Reel Talk is a fishing conditions app for the Texas Gulf Coast. It scores more than 70 public fishing spots with a live Fish Bite Index built from tide, wind, water temperature, pressure and moon phase, and suggests bait and rigs for each spot, so you can see where the bite looks best before you load the truck.

Yes. The free plan includes live weather and tide data, the Fish Bite Index for every public spot, a 24-hour forecast, 1 saved spot and a starter Log Book. Pro is an optional upgrade for anglers who want the 7-day forecast and higher limits. Compare plans.

Not to look around. Spot conditions and the Fish Bite Index work without signing in. You need to sign in with Google to save your own spots, log catches or upgrade to Pro.

Reel Talk runs in your browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.

The Fish Bite Index (FBI) is a score from 0 to 100 for how likely fish are to bite at a spot. It weighs water temperature, tide movement, wind, barometric pressure, season and moon phase, then adjusts for things like wind direction against that spot's shoreline, dawn and dusk light, and incoming fronts. Higher is better.

The Fish Bite Index measures the odds, not a promise. A high score means the conditions line up well for feeding fish, but bait, where you fish on the water, pressure from other anglers and plain luck still matter. Use the score to pick the best spot and time window, then fish it well.

Each spot rates common inshore species separately, because every species reacts differently to temperature, tide and light. High is a species score of 70 or more, Moderate is 50 to 69, and Low is under 50. Closed means that species is in a regulatory closed season, so check current Texas regulations before you keep one.

Weather forecasts come from Open-Meteo, and tide predictions and water temperature come from NOAA stations. The 1-foot depth contours are built from government survey data. Maps come from MapTiler, rain radar from RainViewer and sea-surface temperature from NASA. Reel Talk combines all of it and does the scoring.

Conditions and scores refresh automatically every two hours. Tide predictions are loaded once a day, because tides are predictable well in advance. Tap Refresh in the app to load the latest data. Pro members can also pull live readings for a spot on demand with Premium Live Data.

Premium Live Data is a Pro feature. It fetches fresh, live readings for a spot the moment you ask, instead of waiting for the next scheduled update, and rescores the hours ahead with them. It is most useful right before you head out.

No. The Fish Bite Index scores fishing conditions, not safety, and a great score can come with dangerous weather. Always check the marine forecast yourself, and never fish in lightning, high wind or rough water. See the weather safety section of our Terms of Service.

Sign in, open the Angler List tab and tap the + button. Each saved spot gets its own Fish Bite Index, scored against that spot's own shoreline. The free plan saves 1 spot, and Pro saves up to 10.

JPG, PNG and HEIC, the default format on iPhone. Photos are resized in your browser before they upload, so large files from your camera are fine.

New Pro members get 7 days free. You are not charged during the trial, and if you cancel before it ends you are not charged at all. Otherwise your plan starts automatically when the trial ends. The trial is available once per account.

In the app, open Settings, go to Subscription and tap Manage. That opens a secure billing page from Stripe, our payment provider, where you can cancel, switch between monthly and yearly, update your payment method and see past invoices.

Yes. Open Settings, go to Subscription, tap Manage and choose Update plan.

• Monthly to yearly starts right away. You are charged the yearly price minus the unused part of your current month.
• Yearly to monthly starts when your paid year ends. You keep your yearly plan until then, and monthly billing begins after it.

You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, then your account moves to the free plan. Your saved spots, catches and photos stay where they are. Free plan limits apply when you add new ones.

No. Pro is billed in advance and payments are non-refundable, including for partial months or years. If you are on the free trial, cancel before it ends and you will not be charged.

Give it a minute for the payment to confirm, then refresh the app or sign out and back in. If Pro still isn't unlocked, send us a message through the contact form with the topic Billing and the email you sign in with.

Google sign-in keeps your account secure without another password to remember, and it means Reel Talk never stores a password that could leak.

Each plan allows a set number of devices at once: 1 on the free plan and 2 on Pro. When you sign in on a new device past that limit, the device you used least recently is signed out.

Your Reel Talk account is tied to the Google account you sign in with, so its email can't be changed. Signing in with a different Google account creates a separate Reel Talk account.

Only what the app needs to work: your Google name, email and profile photo, the spots, catches and photos you save, and basic usage and security data. We don't sell your data. Payments are handled by Stripe, and your card details never reach our servers. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Check your connection, then reload the app. Ad and content blockers can stop map tiles and weather layers from loading, so try allowing app.reeltalkfishing.com in your blocker. If the map still won't load, send us a message through the contact form with the topic Bug and leave the device details box checked.

Your browser needs permission to use your location, and location services need to be on for your phone.

• iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Safari Websites → While Using the App.
• Android: in Chrome, tap the icon to the left of the address bar, then Permissions → Location.

Reel Talk saves parts of itself on your device so it loads fast. Close every Reel Talk tab, or close the home-screen app completely, then open it again to load the newest version.

Usually it is the device limit: signing in on another phone or browser signs out the device you used least recently (1 device on the free plan, 2 on Pro). Private browsing and strict cookie blocking can also clear your sign-in when you close the browser.
